Ema & Zeeshan - One For The Books!

In 2018, most of my clients were from out of state and were planning a Seattle wedding because at least one of them grew up in and around the Seattle area. Planning these destination weddings for my couples is always a blast and they present so many opportunities to showcase our beautiful PNW! Ema and Zeeshan were living out in the East Coast when they first contacted me about planning their fusion, interfaith wedding. I had never met a more genuine and kind-hearted pair who are so true to who they are as individuals and as a couple.

The first day was their Mehndi/Welcome Dinner event in Ema’s parents backyard. It was colorful, lively and we tried to incorporate their desire to combine the essence of a Japanese Street Festival, Sakura Matsuri, with the cultural elements of a South Asian Mehndi. The family’s lush, green backyard was decorated with colorful lanterns, lights, fabric and parasols. Their guests were treated to delicious Japanese cuisine and entertained by family and friends performing their best Bollywood fusion dances for the happy couple. And of course, there were henna artists and cotton candy to help ensure everyone had a chance to partake in some cultura traditions and indulge in something sweet!

The following day, Ema & Zeeshan exchanged their vows beneath a custom book arch and sealed it with the coolest high-five sequence! The book theme was represented throughout the event - customized bookmarks, a library check-out style guest book, book sign-out table numbers, and a cataloging cubby unit that held mini pies in lieu of library cards! Their cake was also quite the masterpiece - 3 stacked “books” with handpicked titles and authors. Most importantly, their wedding was a true representation of them - it was unique, full of love and light and encompassed their cultural backgrounds, faiths and passions in a way that was respectful, inviting and fun! So excited to share Ciccarelli Photography’s gorgeous pictures from both events with all of you now!

Abhishek & Oishee - Indian Wedding at Pickering Barn

Typically, most of my initial consults are either with both bride and groom or with the bride-to-be but in this case, my first few interactions were with the groom! I loved how Abhishek had stepped up to the plate and taken the lead in planning this entire wedding as Oishee was in the midst of her final year at med school! They planned most of the details long distance from New York and when I did get to meet them both in person, I could see how well they balanced each other out and how effortlessly they understood each other - and don’t they both have the most charming smiles?! They were definitely excited to begin this next chapter in their lives ! I was excited to be a part of their big day and to help plan and coordinate my first Bengali/Gujarati wedding in Seattle :) Here are some favorites from their wedding day, courtesy of Jerome Tso Photography
